The Mayfair Townhouse Hotel Review, London

April 2024 · 1 minute read

Self described as “Old Mayfair, meets Mayfair”, you’ll find a flamboyant blend of contemporary British style and mid-century modern modern pieces, with nods to the streets’s storied past - it’s where Oscar Wilde set The Importance of Being Earnest.

Art plays a pivotal role in the hotel’s design, with a curated collection of unique and commissioned pieces that bring to life the property’s history with a sense of mischief (think traditional portraits of a family who once lived there, but with the head of a fox, or holding an iPad).

The colour scheme is bold and beautiful, most notably in the the Club Room with its scarlet bookcases packed with leather-bound old tomes and boxes of butterflies, leather banquets and herringbone flooring.

Seven of the 15 townhouses are Grade II listed, meaning the corridors that link the bedrooms retain a wonky charm.
