AN IMMACULATE Saratoga four-bedder has sold by private treaty for a multi-million dollar price more than 3½ times the suburb’s median.
No. 101 Steyne Rd’s quality interiors, ocean aspect and private jetty drew 60 groups to inspections, but the home initially failed to sell at a planned auction. It’s since been scooped up for $2.5 million, a figure well beyond the suburb’s median house price of $715,000.
A number of interested parties continued to pursue ownership of the home, including its buyers, a couple from Sydney.
Sharron Tucker, of One Agency, said the home’s sellers, who plan to downsize, now face an uphill battle to find a smaller property of the same calibre.
“It was an emotional sale — they loved living in the home. It had a great neighbourhood, great neighbours,” she said.
She said the couple would like to buy a unit, but finding something that compares to the quality of their Saratoga home was proving difficult.
“There’s not much out there, to be honest ... there’s more coming on but they’re not built,” she said.
